November 2000. PHLOWTRON exploded onto the hip hop music scene. With their brand of energetic, explosive and in-your-face hip hop, they quickly blazed a trail within the local hip hop culture. Masterful showmen, they were known for their bright orange jumpsuits, Halloween masks and light saber wielding performances. Their incredible manic energy on stage earned them reputations as among the best live performers the local music scene had to offer. PHLOWTRON quickly built a loyal following and established themselves as giants of the underground scene.

Pretty Ugly introduced their unique brand of psychedelic rock and they have been around since 1997, going by the name Seven back then. The vocalist, Raizan Zainal Abidin goes by the name Neves (that's pronounced 'nervous' without the 'r'), which is actually Seven spelt backwards, as "a reminder of the group's origins". There's also Ashraff (Ashraff), Nett (Nik Muhammad Histami Nik Mohammad Din) & Amy (Zulhasyemi Mohamad Shafei).
However, when they signed a recording contract with KRU Records (after going from one recording company to another - none of which accepted their musical style), they changed their band name (Seven) as the Indonesian band Sheila On 7 became a big hit among Malaysians then. Not wanting to be accused of cashing on Sheila On 7's success story, they opted for the name PrettyUgly - a name that would raise eyebrows for sure.

It was September 2003 when Kiki (Songwriter/Pianist) asked Bez (Drums) and the other starting members to form a band named Olive Tree, later on, the other starting members decided to leave the band and replaced by Iman (Bass) and Teezar (Guitar) which become the original member of Olive Trees later performances. The very first public performance of the band was in March 2004, five months after it was formed. In their first two years of struggle, The unique musical characters of the band rapidly catch everybodys attention in their every performances. With no other band to compare in their genre (which is a hybrid from classical pop piano, unique vocal character, powerful drum beats, catchy bass tunes and rock guitars) the somehow gloomy but funny band becomes a stand alone benchmark in Bandungs independent music scene.
